The Library

About The Library

Now more than ever, we need progressive thinking and applied solutions in order to act on climate change. The Library is a hub for climate focused start-ups, SMEs and investors to join forces and work together for a sustainable future.

Besides being a state-of-the-art energy and climate optimized office building, The Library is a forum for co-creation, synergies, projects and entrepreneurial ideas with a clear and viable sustainable profile.

Furthermore a part of the space at our climate hub is reserved for Klimaforeningen, which is a non-profit organization working to increase awareness of the climate crisis. Klimaforeningen is a leading host of climate related events, talks, workshops, etc. and a leading voice in the debate around the green transition. Klimaforeningen is open to the public.

The Library

The Library is situated in the most vital and creative part of Copenhagen: Nørrebro

Our vision is to make The Library in Bragesgade a melting pot for climate-focused initiatives and young entrepreneurs to scale up and grow. We believe that the most prevailing problem of our times – climate change – transcends cultures, generations, and social affiliations.

Ideas and solutions arise in inspiring and inclusive environments, and we want to engage with the local community through social events, education, workshops, panel discussions, talks and much more.

Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming events!

The building

Nuts, Bolts and Nørrebro’s Old Library

The Library is situated in the former buildings of Brødrene Henzes Skruebolte- & Møtrikfabrik – a factory that produced nuts and bolts. The factory moved in the 1940s and the buildings later became a library. Over the past year, the buildings have undergone a gentle renovation, an aesthetic upgrade and a comprehensive energy efficiency. The Library is a state-of the-art energy and climate optimized office building with sustainable facilities. The power consumption is covered by solar power harvested on the roof. The energy consumption is low and the indoor climate standards high with LED lighting, energy-friendly ventilation, insulation and world class energy control systems. The hot water consumption is  sustainably powered by heat pumps. To encourage climate friendly transportation, we have installed EV chargers on the property as well as bike parking facilities.

Interior Design

Interior and design by Københavns Møbelsnedkeri

Inspired by the interplay between natural materials and the old industrial buildings of Bragesgade, our spaces offer a unique ambiance with classic furniture and interior designs by Københavns Møbelsnedkeri, elegant oak parquet flooring, and subtle details from Japanese interior design contrasted by the building’s industrial aesthetics.

The flexible and multifunctional spaces accommodate an environment where people can exchange ideas, work together or individually, where you can focus and contemplate. Enjoy a nice meal at our canteen and a cup of Ricco’s coffee at our coffee station and meet likeminded people who like yourself work for a sustainable future.
